June 5, 2013 REALTOR Day on Beacon Hill

Mark your calendar for the 7:55am train from Newburyport arriving at North Station at 9:30am.  Join your fellow REALTORS at MAR’s annual grassroots lobbying day; REALTOR Day on Beacon Hill on June 5, 2013.  Keynote speaker this year is Massachusetts Attorney General, Martha Coakley. Check-in begins at 9:30 in the Great Hall at the Massachusetts State House, with continental breakfast and speakers immediately following at 10:00 am.

The Committee for an Open Waterfront will present their multi-media presentation of an Alternative Plan for the 4.2 acres of public lands to the east and west of the Firehouse. It includes a park and landscaped parking plan by two professional landscape architects with a short video introduction and a “fly-around” showing the dimensional scale of the NRA (Newburyport Redevelopment Authority) proposed development.  The NRA plan includes 70,000 sq. ft. building with 64 condos ; retail below and single family up. Two massive buildings, one the largest in the downtown,  blocking views to the River.  There will be a financial analysis of the NRA, and the park/parking costs of the landscaped plan with no new buildings proposal. Questions are welcomed after the presentation.
