NAR Mid-Year Legislative Meetings

The 2016 NAR Leadership, and 2016 President Tim Salomone welcomed over 6,000 REALTORS to Washington D.C. and set the tone for the meeting.  His theme throughout his presidency has been, “Realtors do what’s expected of them… And Then Some!”  Thousands of REALTORS descended upon our Capitol, to climb the Hill, promote the industry, and protect private property rights!

Marvin Rubin & Judy Moore of Massachusetts received 2016 NAR FPC Meritorious Service Awards!

Hill Visits – Seth Moulton (Elizabeth Warren had 30+)

Talking points included:

  • Open Access to Condominiums & Other Needed Housing reforms
  • Ensure that G-fees are used for that and not unrelated project (Don’t Raise Cost of Homeownership)
  • Provide Private Flood Insurance Options
  • RE Related Tax Policies are Vital to the Economy

Additionally, an Economic Update provided by Lawrence Yun was given and can be found on www.realtor.org.  Elizabeth Warren spoke on the need for relief for student debt and the impact on housing purchases for this segment.  NAR has backed her legislation that has been introduced to alleviate this issue.  A summary of the NAR Board Meeting results is provided here.
