Call for Nominations

It is that time of year and we are seeking interested candidates for the 2017-2018 Board of Directors and Officers.  The following positions will be presented for election at our Annual Meeting on October 13, 2016.

  • President-Elect (automatically succeeds President) 
  • Secretary (one-year term)
  • Treasurer (one-year term)
  • Local Director (3-year term)
  • MAR Alternate Directors (two open, 1-year term each)

We value your participation in the association.  By volunteering on the GNAR Board, you will gain insight and experience locally as well as with both the Massachusetts (MAR) and National Association (NAR) of REALTORS.

Help shape the programs and services we deliver to our members! Completed e-forms should be submitted prior to August 16, 2016.  For any questions or to request a paper application, please call GNAR at 978-462-5415.

The Slate of Officers will be published in accordance with GNAR Bylaws at least three weeks prior to the election of Officers & Directors.  Again, election for 2017-2018 positions will be held at the GNAR Annual Membership meeting on October 13, 2016.  Please mark the date on your calendar.

*Positions on the board and voting is open to REALTOR members only, Affiliate members are welcome to attend the Annual Membership meeting but are not voting members of the Association.

Search for the latest Broker Open House offerings using MLS PIN.  Search for Broker OH (next 3 days) and you’ll see all the listings with a broker bus icon offered in our area.   Reminder:  JPEG flyers (for luncheons only) should be sent BEFORE NOON each Wednesday for inclusion in this newsletter.  No flyers are needed for broker OH without luncheon, but must also be added to MLS PIN before noon each Wednesday.

Massachusetts Home Buyers Pushed Sales to Another Record for the Month of June

Single-family median home prices hit $380,000 for the first time

WALTHAM, Mass. – July 26, 2016 – The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) reported today that home buyers pushed home sales to another record for the month of June. While year-over-year increases were more modest compared to previous months, single-family home median prices hit $380,000 for the first time. Condominium sales also closed higher with median prices up from 2015.

  • Most closed sales in the month of June since 2004
  • Closed sales have been up 17 out of the last 24 months
  • Median prices have been up for the 14 out of the last 15 months

Sales 2,646 2,630 +0.6%
Median Price $349,900 $330,000 +6.0%
  • Closed sales have been up or flat 12 of the last 16 months
  • Median prices have been up 11 out of the last 15 months

“The competition to buy a home in Massachusetts right now very intense,” said 2016 MAR President Annie Blatz, branch executive at Kinlin Grover Real Estate in Brewster. “Buyers are having to use every additional dollar worth of purchasing power they are getting from these historically-low interest rates to close a deal.”

  • First time in 65 months that inventory has increased

“While we need more than just homeowners to list their homes for sale to meet our inventory shortage, it is the most immediate thing we can do to help boost supply,” said Blatz.
